Columbia Sportswear

The history of the Columbia brand dates back to 1938, when the Boyle family founded a hat company in Portland, Oregon. After experiencing financial difficulties in the 1960s, Gert Boyle, the founder's daughter, decided to enter the outdoor clothing business. The goal was to develop clothing that could withstand the harshest conditions without sacrificing comfort or functionality. Thus was born the Columbia brand, whose name takes its inspiration from the river near the family estate.

Omni-Heat and Omni-Tech: Functionality meets design

Columbia is known for its high-quality jackets, pants, and footwear, which are specifically designed for the demands of outdoor activities such as hiking, skiing, and climbing. One of the most renowned technologies Columbia has developed is Omni-Heat, a heat-reflective lining that reflects body heat back into the fabric, thus providing greater insulation. Another technology is Omni-Tech, which uses waterproof and breathable materials to keep you dry and comfortable during outdoor activities. In winter jackets, a lined collar ensures that the neck and shoulders stay warm and protected. Columbia's windbreakers are ideal for mild days with a fresh breeze. But they also have the right gear for outdoor activities in warmer temperatures: with shorts, baseball caps, and the right bag, nothing stands in your way. Whether the sun is shining, it's raining, or the wind is blowing, with Columbia you can pursue your hobbies and sports outdoors.

Quality and sustainability

Columbia places a strong emphasis on social responsibility and sustainability. For example, the company has set a goal of being carbon neutral by 2025. The company is also increasingly using recycled materials and striving for more environmentally friendly production processes. This in no way compromises the quality of its clothing. Columbia's long and successful history as a leading outdoor brand proves that the brand combines quality, innovation, and functionality. Whether you're an experienced mountaineer or a casual hiker, Columbia offers T-shirts, windbreakers, fleece jackets, vests, beanies, bags, and much more to suit any outdoor adventure.
