A great fan of American denim, KK Tsunemi founded the EDWIN brand in 1947. Since there was no single producer in Japan at the time, the company began importing worn denim from the USA, which was painstakingly repaired and restored by hand to meet the growing demand in the Japanese market. In 1961, ten years after the first attempt at domestically produced denim failed, Tsunemi produced the first pair of EDWIN jeans, which then, as now, followed the same four basic principles: quality, craftsmanship, innovation, and aesthetics. Just two years later, EDWIN was able to present the world's heaviest ring-spun jeans to date, weighing 16 oz. These jeans, with their famous three-tone selvage ("rainbow selvage"), are still produced today. When the first "stone-washed" versions were introduced to the public in 1980, the company revolutionized the entire denim industry. It was no longer necessary to wear jeans for months to achieve a personalized look; EDWIN now did this for the customer.

Today, EDWIN Jeans is one of the five most influential denim producers and enjoys great popularity in the European market thanks to its high quality and moderate prices. Whether it's the slim-fit denim with a colorful selvedge for the sneakerhead or the 16oz model for the boot-wearing rockabilly – everyone interested in high-quality and durable jeans will find what they're looking for at EDWIN.
