Bologna - Massimo Osti Archives

In June 2019, The Smart Dresser team, at the invitation of the CP Company Marketing Department, visited the legendary Massimo Osti Archive in Bologna. They spent the entire day interviewing Lorenzo Osti, the son of CP Company founder Massimo Osti, about the archive's structure and understanding the history of selected fabrics, collaborations, and, above all, jackets. We came across a special piece of clothing that marked the beginning of our collaboration.

CP Company x The Smart Dresser

The garment that awaited us in the depths of the archive and inspired our collaboration was a T-shirt from 1987. On September 19th and 20th, 1987, Massimo Osti was allowed to exhibit his creations at the Berlin Reichstag and to hold a large fashion show in Berlin Spandau:

  • 15 years of design by Massimo Osti
  • 150 years of the fashion industry
  • 750 years of Berlin

Franco Bruccoleri, who held a leading sales role at CP Company, acted as a bridge between Massimo Osti and the Berlin government. Important politicians from East and West Berlin, personalities from the fashion industry, and German retailers were invited. As a souvenir of the exhibition, everyone present received a T-shirt in the design of the invitation, printed on both the front and back. We have now reissued this T-shirt after 35 years. To conclude the celebrations surrounding "50 Years of CP Company" in 2021, we have adapted and rewritten the invitation. To otherwise preserve the original motif, the serious spelling errors were highlighted in red and corrected. A piece of history – 75x for Berlin at The Smart Dresser.

Royal Porcelain Manufactory Berlin

To express the long-standing connection between the traditional brand CP Company and Berlin, we were privileged to collaborate with one of Berlin's most important companies. With its centuries-long history, the Königliche Porzellanmanufaktur Berlin (Royal Porcelain Manufactory Berlin) represents Berlin craftsmanship like no other. We had the opportunity to refine the 5-piece KURLAND set with the motifs and lettering of the The Smart Dresser x CP Company collaboration. By combining silky glaze surfaces with velvety reliefs made of biscuit porcelain, KURLAND succeeds in creating a visual and tactile experience. The porcelain was created to mark the 250th anniversary of KPM Berlin in 2013. The motifs were implemented on the upper cups and saucers, as well as the sugar bowl, as detailed hand-painted in HTS black. This set is unique and will be exhibited in The Smart Dresser Store in Berlin.
